Do You Say Goodbye?

When you hang up the phone or leave somewhere, do you say goodbye? I suppose I had never thought about this before. I have been told that I don't normally say good bye. It is usually, see ya, later, etc.

All of this came to a head for me recently. While on a road trip through Texas I stopped to visit a very old friend I had not seen in probably 12 years. He and I were the best of friends. Now in life I believe that most men and women can never be friends because the sex always gets in the way. One will typically be attracted to the other. (When Harry Met Sally) However; this is not the case with this guy. We hugged and kissed each other over and over.

I never got to tell him goodbye 12 years ago, I suppose I now know why. I don't know how to say goodbye to anyone. A girlfriend of mine pointed out that if you say goodbye - it means FOREVER! Well; he and I spent the day together and it was like we had never stopped talking, we picked up exactly where we had left off. I literally did not want the day to end. When it did; I hugged him tightly knowing I would see him again in a few months. I never said goodbye; neither did he. The moment I started up my truck to drive home. The song; goodbye by 'Night Ranger' came on the radio. I started quietly crying! (did not want the sis in law to see me) Still not sure why I did that; other than I do not know how to tell people goodbye. (even for a little while)

So... to my readers, do you say goodbye to the ones you love when you leave them for a day, week, vacation, etc? Something to ponder......... Does goodbye really mean forever?
